FIT 4.0 is available now.
What’s New in FIT 4.0
For what the app does today, rather than what changed in this release, see what FIT does.
FIT 4.0 is the fullest version of the app so far. It grew from a focused rep counter into a complete private training companion: five guided workouts, goals for each of them, a real record of your sessions, and a Weight Journey that works whichever direction you are heading.
01 Guided workouts
Five guided workouts
Where FIT once guided two exercises, it now guides five: Push-Ups, Squats, Sit-Ups, Lunges, and the Plank. Push-Ups are counted by screen contact. Squats, Sit-Ups, and Lunges are counted by device motion. The Plank is a timed hold and is measured in time, never converted into repetitions.
Each workout has its own setup guidance before the countdown, so you know how to place the phone and how a rep is registered before you begin.
02 Planned workouts
Planned sessions that keep up with you
- One screen to build a session.Choose the exercise, the sets, and the reps in a single place.
- Planned sets count down. The number in front of you is what is left to do, with audio cues as you approach the end of a set.
- Extra Reps are yours to keep.Anything you do past the plan is recorded as extra rather than quietly folded into the target.
- Rest between sets.A rest timer between sets, with the option to skip it.
- A summary worth reading.Set breakdown, best set, plan reps against extra reps, active time, and total workout time.
03 Goals and stats
Personalized goals, and the history behind them
- A goal for every guided workout.Set a rep target for Push-Ups, Squats, Sit-Ups, and Lunges, and a hold target for the Plank. A combined view shows where you stand overall.
- All-Time Stats.Total reps, guided workouts completed, day streak, and plank time across your entire history.
- Personal Records.Your best result for each exercise, including your longest plank.
- An expanded Workout Calendar. The calendar now reflects all five guided workouts, not just the original two.
- Selected-day summaries.Choose any day to see what it contained, with empty days shown honestly as zero.
- Reps and holds stay separate.Total Reps covers Push-Ups, Squats, Sit-Ups, and Lunges. Plank time is reported on its own, because a hold has no rep count to add.
04 Fitness Journal
A journal that holds the whole session
- Cardio.Walks, jogs, and runs with distance, pace, elapsed and moving time, and the route you took.
- Strength and Lifts.Log an exercise with sets, reps, and weight, with common lifts offered as suggestions.
- Planned workout history.Completed planned sessions land in the timeline alongside everything else.
- Session details.Start and end times, duration, sets and reps, and the areas you trained.
- Live Activities. An in-progress cardio workout stays visible on the Lock Screen, on devices that support it.
05 Weight Journey
A Weight Journey for gain and for loss
Not everyone is trying to weigh less. FIT 4.0 treats gaining and losing as equally valid journeys, and measures progress as how close you are to the weight you chose rather than how far you have moved in one direction.
- Both directions.Set a goal above or below your current weight and the whole screen adapts, including whether you have weight to gain or to lose.
- Reaching the target means reaching it.Overshooting your goal moves you away from it again, exactly as falling short does.
- Four time ranges.7 days, 30 days, 90 days, and Lifetime, each with an axis suited to the span it covers.
- High, low, and change. The shape of the range you are looking at, at a glance.
- Nothing is invented.A day without a weigh-in stays empty rather than being filled with a guess.
- Start again when you need to.Restart the journey from your current weight without erasing what came before.
06 Health and widgets
Apple Health, only if you want it
- Optional and read-only.If you connect Apple Health, FIT reads the data types you authorize so it can display them. FIT does not write or save data to Apple Health.
- Daily steps and activity context.Steps, exercise time, walking and running distance, active energy, and heart rate, each only with your permission.
- Turn it off at any time.Health access is managed in the Apple Health app or in iPhone Settings, and FIT explains what it reads before you connect.
- Home Screen widgets.Small widgets for lifetime reps, this week, and this month.
07 Language and access
English and Spanish, and built to be usable
- Fully localized in English and Spanish.Including every permission prompt the system shows you.
- VoiceOver throughout.Counters, goal cards, charts, and calendar days carry spoken descriptions rather than bare numbers.
- Larger text sizes.Setup guides and in-workout controls stay reachable at accessibility text sizes.
- Reduce Motion.Animated progress treatments hold still when Reduce Motion is on.
08 Privacy
Privacy-first, by construction
FIT has no accounts, no ads, no analytics, no tracking, no social feed, and no public profile. It does not send personal fitness data to a developer-operated server, and personal information is not sold.
Your workouts, goals, journal, and weight history are stored on your iPhone. Where a feature needs a sensor, it is used for that feature and nothing else: motion during an active rep-counted workout, and location during an active walk, jog, or run so distance, pace, and route can be recorded on the device. Full detail is in the Privacy Policy.
The idea behind it
The app is built around a simple idea: people should be able to improve their health with a polished, motivating tool that respects their attention, their data, and the different ways they define progress.
